Maori Country--"Mitai"--Rotorua

One of the most enjoyable parts of our trip was attending a Maori night in the jungle. The show began in the evening. We had a dinner cooked all day on a large outdoor coal stove type thing. The natives came down the river in the night, and we all experienced their life as if it were back in the day. Really neat experience. And they did the "HAKA" --which is the dance the BYU football team has been doing for a few years now, before the game-- which was really pretty scary!

There was rain and we all put on ponchos to go out into the jungle...

Here are the people at our table. The guy right by me was from NYC and just living in NZ for an experience. We were always talking to people on the trip...saying we were from Salt Lake City...which often brought up the church. The woman with red hair and her husband (to her left) and the two younger across from Dewayne, live in Tokyo Japan. After talking for a while we found out that they (woman and husband) are active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Small World! Really neat people.
