New Zealand

This is a shot of Auckland, New Zealand from the harbor where our hotel was. Auckland is a thriving city...perhaps 1/2 Japanese...lots of sushi bars and yummy food. We took a walk along Queen Street and experienced some quaint Euro streets. We stopped and bought some pastries and just enjoyed strolling along the streets. We found ourselves at the Sky Tower in downtown Auckland. A picture below shows the view from the top, but it reminded us of the days in Las Vegas and when we took the kids to the top of the Stratosphere. At the top of the Sky Tower, they were bungee jumping. Dewayne wanted to do it...but there is no way!

We drove everywhere we went while in NZ. That was a HUGE adventure, since they drive on the "WRONG" side of the road!!! It was a two person job...and I must say that Dewayne did great. We had our lingo going..."Give way, give way" means "yield" and "You're drifting" means you're too close to the side of the road (passenger side). Of coarse all of this was said in a New Zealanders accent!!! This is a picture of Harbor Bridge, with the NZ flag flying. It spans the narrow Tamaki isthmus. Auckland is surrounded by the sea with the Tasman Sea to one side and the Pacific on the other. They have 2 major ports in Auckland. Much to see there. We had to cross the bridge for Dewayne's business meeting. It lasted for 4 hours and the rest of the 8 days were ours to enjoy!
